The assignment — simple.  Roman soldiers are ordered — “Take that Nazarene Jesus to the hill — kill Him.”  Still first — they chose to — punch Him around — have some fun — bully Him .  Strong muscled, loud, military armed soldiers circled Jesus!  Already, Jesus was exhausted — near death!

Still, they punched more more at this submissive Galilean carpenter — lashing Him, beating Him.  Yes — the beating was commanded.  Yes — the crucifixion was ordered.  But!  The spitting?  The cursing — humiliating?  The bullying?  Spitting, cursing, humiliating doesn’t hurt the body — it can’t.

Spitting, cursing is done to degrade, shame the soul (mind, emotions, feelings, body).  Yes, when someone spits on you — or you spit on yourself — you are shamed.  Have you ever done this?   Maybe you never have literally spit on someone — but perhaps you gossiped — you spoke shame, despair?

Have you raised your voice, your hand in anger?   Have you ever made someone feel so bad so you would feel so good?  Have you ever spit on yourself — degrading yourself — striking yourself with angry words — emotionally, spiritually, mentally, physically?  The way you treat others, yourself — is how you treat Jesus!

Jesus said — “As you have done to the least of these (in the estimation of men) you have done to Me” (Matthew 25:40).  Beloved, I know how horrible this is.  I have shamed others — been shamed — been spit on emotionally, physically, mentally, emotionally!  Yes, I have shamed myself — spit on myself, on others — in emotional fits of rage, anger, despair, un-forgiveness.

You may be thinking — “But ROSE, you are so calm, so kind, so sweet?  How can you say this?”  Beloved, before you See Jesus — before you learn Jesus’ Wild Love-Grace-Joy — before you learn His strength, His protection, His provisions — you protect yourself, beat up yourself !  Yes — you beat up others every day easily!

Start today!  Treat others, treat yourself — well!  Treat yourself easy — treat others the same Royal CHAMPION Way Jesus treats you!  Be kind, so loving to yourself — to others!  Stop beating, spitting on Jesus!  Treat Jesus — treat you — treat others — with Jesus Wild Love-Joy-Grace — His CHAMPION Royal Way!
