Today’s Scripture

“…Who is this uncircumcised Philistine that
he should defy the armies of the living God?”

(1 Samuel 17:26)

Magnify God – Never Enemies

Dear One,

David never called Goliath a giant!  When David faced Goliath, David never spoke of the enemy’s power!  Other people bragged on Goliath as a giant!  David spoke the exact opposite!  He never magnified the challenge.  David stood right up in the face of people calling Goliath an “uncircumcised Philistine.”  This was a deathly blow!

What David said was — “This man is not in covenant (promise) with my God.  He’s not in covenant with Jehovah.” “He doesn’t have favor on his life that’s on my life.  I know the favor of my God keeps my enemies from being able to defeat me.”  David not only dis-acknowledged who Goliath was, his strength, his power, his experience — he took one big step further — David shamed Goliath — diminishing him.

When David was face on with Goliath he spoke saying —  “This day, I will defeat you and feed your head to the birds of the air.” Remember this is little teenage David!  Half the size of Goliath!  Wearing no military armor!  David had no military experience or strength!

How could David go out with such boldness facing Goliath, a seasoned skilled warrior wearing a full set of military armor?  Because!  David stood clearly understanding this one principle thing!  Remember David saying —  “The favor of my God keeps my enemies from defeating me” (Psalms 41).  Beloved, forever keep magnifying God — never magnify your enemies!
