God Laughs – Angels Sing –
Jesus Dances Dear One, Let’s take a closer look at The Night — JESUS was born! One sentence — one word — clearly describes that glorious night! The night was spectacular — usual! The sky was spectacular — usual! A soft breeze gently stirred trees — with cool air. Stars sparkled like diamonds in a fresh morning dew. Clouds floated — dancing across the moon. The night was amazing, beautiful – a night worthy to look at to admire – very usual. God’s perfect night — Perfect! His life, eternal changing night did not keep one person awake. Just another one of His usual nights — His usual skies — with exception of the stars. Sheep stood by calmly. Not one sheep coat was made of silver or gold. Not one FFA ribbon winner! Usual sheep — God’s creation! Resting sheep — sweet, sleeping shadows on hillsides. Peasant shepherds — wearing all the smelly, woolly clothes they owned. Shepherds lived willing, hour, upon hour — night upon night protecting their flocks. None of the shepherds staffs made it into fine museums — none of their writings in a book. No one required a shepherds thoughts on the law or application of the Jewish Torah. Shepherds were nameless — invisible! Except for One! God’s usual night — usual sheep — usual shepherds. Still God loves to use a “Un” on the front of His words! Like un-limited — un-yielding — un-usual! This un-usual night could have passed un-noticed. Shepherds, sheep — the night could have passed un-attended — forgotten. Beloved, God laughs — Angels sing — Jesus dances around the un-usual. This usual night became most “un-usual”! God laughed, smiled, rejoices — as His Son JESUS dances right into that manger — onto this Earth — forever for eternity — for all the universes. The sky exploded with His brightest stars. Trees, sheep — once shadows — leaped. Silent, sleeping sheep began singing, baying like a fine tuned choir. Shepherds who were fast asleep — were alert now! Their eyes stared to see — to get the first glimpse of The Face of Almighty God! THIS night gloriously transformed the universes — no longer usual! JESUS’ announcement — went first to the shepherds. Not one shepherd thought to ask God — “Are You sure You know what You are doing?” Not one angel went announcing to theologians! Their theology commentaries would not have been handy! God made no announcement to the social rich! Their first action would have been to make certain no one was listening, watching. God paled to consult successful business people! Their schedules, calendars would have to be consulted! Beloved — first — the angels went to the shepherds. Not one shepherd had a reputation to protect — or an argument to discuss or cuss — no ladders to climb. Shepherd people — never knowing enough theology or Scripture to remind or question God that angels never sing to sheep! For certain, messiahs — The Messiah — would never be sleeping in a animal feed trough. Angels came in the dark night! Star Lights blasted the sky! Best seen in the dark! Angels come when most needed. God comes joyfully making usual into “un-usual” for many reasons. Simple — powerful — usual — un-usual — simplest. Almighty God laughs — angels sing — JESUS dances!
