The Still Inward
Spirit Voice “I say the truth in Christ, I lie not,
my conscience also bearing me witness in the Holy Ghost” (Romans 9:1)
The number one way the Holy Spirit guides you us is through the inward spirit witness. The number two way is through the inward spirit voice. The inward person has a voice just as the outward person has a voice. Sometimes the voice of the inward person is called “conscience.”
Sometimes “conscience” is also called intuition, inner guidance, or “the still, small voice.” But “conscience” is not the voice of the Spirit of God speaking to you — because when the Holy Spirit speaks — His voice is more authoritative, more firm. The still, small voice is the voice of your own inner spirit. Yet your inner spirit picks up from the Holy Spirit who lives inside you. For example, I wrote once about a “bell” ringing on the inside of me as I drove onto my family farm I am living now for 30 years in Kentucky. I knew on the inside — this farm and home would be my home! For days, no matter how I figured things — nothing seemed to work. But I couldn’t get any rest from thinking about it — my “conscience” was hurting and whirling. My inner spirit knew I had listened to the prompting of the LORD’s Spirit. So I said, “LORD, in the natural, I don’t see how this farm and home is ever possible. But You are my LORD God — and You are fulfilling the desires You put in my heart to move and never move again (I had moved 36 times in 29 years)! I know Father God this is what You want for me and You have put this desire in my heart.” From that moment on — the inside still, small voice said — “I’m giving you this home and farm. You can count on it and watch Me work.” And God did just that well over 30 years ago! The “spirit-you” will always clearly hear from the Spirit of God — 1. Praise God today you can listen |
